Joe Cicero - Star Morning Show 5A-10A

TUESDAY, MARCH 9TH, 2010

John Park jumped on with us this morning. He talked about the other Chicago Idol hopeful Lee DeWyze a little bit and even hesitated when asked if he just wanted to jump off stage and get Simon after taking a verbal lashing! Good Times!

This doesn't seem like such a bad idea to save a buck or two! I always hear parents say how much prom will set them back. MCC will be hosting an event where you can get prom dresses and accessories for pennies on the dollar - and it helps out Big Brother/Big Sisters of McHenry County! Not a bad deal. A dozen schools are participating. If your teen hasn't mentioned it...here's the info!

Click here for the details on the dress sale.

St. Baldrick's Day will be this Friday. We are shaving our heads to fight pediatric cancer. All this week we will learn more about the fight and families affected by this disease. St. Baldrick's is fighting the fight with YOUR help.

My hair has not been this long in a very loooong time. I found this 2nd grade pic. It's over 25 years old. I am going back in time baby! Click here to make a donation and help with whatever you can spare!

Maybe making too big of a deal with this - but George Clooney from the beginning of the Oscars on ABC last night looked like he was in a bad mood. I thought it was part of the opening with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. This story says it was.

However, throughout the show he and his girlfriend looked mad. Sometimes right AT the camera!

Thus, the Clooney Theory was born. See all of the pics right now - click here. What do you think?

What a weekend! Hampshire Elementary put together a fundraiser for the school since most schools are struggling these days. That's a story for another day...soon. Jeff and I headed out for a night of bingo, raffles, and fun! Charles Hawkins (WR) and Defensive Coach Hac from the Chicago Slaughter were on hand to help out. Nice to see so many parents and kids come out to support the community and something that is so important!

Had a GREAT time last night with friends at the Blackhawks game. Was supposed to go to dinner with my wife and had a sitter but got an offer from Gene at Libertyville Mitsubishi and Chris in our marketing department. Ended up, my wife and our potential sitter, Tina Bree, were extended an invite. I've gotten to know Gene after being out at the car dealerships over the past seven months and enjoyed myself so much.

My friend said there is something sexy about a woman in a hockey jersey...I think he is right!

Check out the rest of the Blackhawks pics click here!

Julio Gomez was in studio and looks fantastic! Those Biggest Loser VIP Passes are still up for grabs. We'll give them away Friday morning. To sign up for them now click here and tell us in 100 words or less why you want them!  To listen to the interview interview. Click to stream or right click and "save as" for the MP3 file.

Roger Ebert has such an amazing story. He has been unable to talk for years. Remember he just kind of disappeared. Well, he battled cancer and had part of his jaw removed. His wife, Chaz, by his side, he has still been reviewing movies in silence and getting nourishment from IV's. The Oprah show yesterday was so powerful. An AMAZING story! He talks through a computer now.

Watch about 10 minutes of the show by clicking here and you will feel good. How people can have such an outlook on life to overcome is truly astonishing to me.

Speaking of overcoming difficult things. The St. Baldrick's event is on March 12th and you could be part of it (get your head shaved!) or donate. It's for Pediatric Cancer Research...who is saying "NO" to that? Jeff, our traffic guy, is doing it too! By next Friday (day of the shaving!) it should be totally out of control and that's what it is all about is having an impact to help. Thanks for your support of this great event. Even a bunch of kids at Crystal Lake South high school will be shaving their heads to help too!

Click here to donate now and thank you!

TUESDAY, MARCH 2ND, 2010

We are giving you and your family and/or friends a chance to get to the front of the line for "The Biggest Loser" tryouts this upcoming week.

The tryouts are downtown on Columbus and you could "cut" in front of everyone else. You have to need to lose 100+ pounds and fill out this form. Tell us in 100 words or less why you NEED to cut in line to try to get on The Biggest Loser!

A Fox River Grove woman is off the hook on SERIOUS charges for selling her guy's boat after she found out he was cheating and ran away with another woman. Justified? I was not surprised after asking the ladies at the station that it seemed "OK" for her to do this! Would you agree? She will have to pay him for the boat but is avoiding felony charges. Also, she's got a great story to tell to her girlfriends!

So guys, if you cheat on your girl...take the boat title and keys with you! Read the full story here.

Well the new season of "Dancing with the Stars" cast has been announced. It happened on ABC last night on the finale of "The Bachelor". Yes, the Bachelor, Jake, is on the cast. Along with what are the most decent names to be on the show in a couple of seasons.

Pam Anderson (used to being dressed in skimpy clothes), Kate Gosselin (8 kids now divorced!), Shannen Doherty (90210), Pussycat singer Nicole Scherzinger, ESPN Sports Anchor Erin Andrews (taped naked in a hotel room), Niecy Nash from "Reno 911" (a little weak there!)

The guys: Evan Lysacek (just won gold in Olympics), NFL Player Chad Ochocinco , Astronaut Buzz Aldrin (the oldest of the bunch), and this is their description, hunky British Actor Aiden Turner (Who?) from "All My Children".

Listen to a big fan, Star Listener Marie, react after hearing the names.

"Inmate Idol" is happening at a jail in Miami which is cracking me up. Even prison walls can't stop the most popular show in America right now! Wouldn't it be great to be the Ryan Seacrest of the prison? You better not mess with the contestants too much you may get shanked!

Picture it..."Boo-Boo...Cellblock "C" has spoken and you will NOT be going home"...which of course, in prison, is usually not good news but in "Inmate Idol" it is! Or, ..."Tiny...you were a little pitchy, but I don't want to get shanked by your homeys so you can continue on..." Click here for the full story.

Guys annoying habits! Click here to listen and see if you feel the same! Add more too!  joe@star105.com

You may have heard we have these Biggest Loser VIP passes. Have you looked to see what your target weight is lately? I weight 256 about a month and a half ago and as of today weight 233. I feel great doing Weight Watchers...but I see this chart and it tells me I should be between 167 and 187. Pretty annoying! That means to be "normal" I have to lose almost another 50 pounds!

Click here to see the chart. Scroll for Biggest Loser VIP pass info.

We've tried to get onto Chat Roulette where you are connected via webcam all morning long. We've seen many naked men and some random people. It is free, no software and FUNNY as heck! Tina Bree was in studio and we decided to put her on the camera and this is what the morning went like on Chat Roulette. We were craking up and can imagine the fun with friends on the weekend. Note: Keep your kids off! LOL! Creep factor for Tina at about a 11 on a scale of 10!

Not sure what Chat Roulette is - watch this ABC News Video here...."sometimes inappropriat..."

Mike and Joe from St. Baldrick's came in today to shed some light on a HUGE event coming up to fight Pediatric Cancer. The event is on March 12th and you could be part of it (get your head shaved!) or donate.

You may have heard the guys asked me to participate as a shavee and I accepted. I mean, it's for Pediatric Cancer Research...who is saying "NO" to that? Jeff Tronina is doing it too and he doesn't know yet our night guy Ryan Wild. We are shooting high with a goal of $5,000. ANY donation you could make is much appreciated! We are going BIG. It's how we like to do things.

Click here to donate now and thank you!

Listen to Mike Splitt and Joe Johnson from Kiwanis explain the event

Listen to Mike and Joe challenge Jeff and Joe to shave their heads!

It has been quite a week for our Olympic athletes. Three golds in a day this past week and then Bode Miller (skiier!) and Apolo Ohno taking gold as well. He actually broke the speed skating record set by Bonnie Blair in the 80's and 90's. She had six - he has seven now. But this guy.

Scotty Lago won a bronze in snowboarding and was photographed having some fun like it was Mardi Gras on the streets of Vancouver. He has apologized to the International Olympic Committee but can't talk to the press until after the Olympics. Either way...dude...remember EVERYTHING ends up on the Internet! And, it's only a bronze! LOL!

Chances are you heard the apology that Tiger gave to the world cause he slept with other women while married. Almost three months after everyone and their sister came out saying they had a piece of him he decided to tell US and not just his wife why he is so sorry!

It ran a bit long - see the video here - and a body language expert tells us what was strange abouto Tiger's speech and what he could have done better. It's a great read and might help you in your time of apology! Ha ha!

Read the article and even watch the video...click here.

EXPIRATION AND SELL BY DATES...they aren't needed? Came across this and it kind of annoys me cause I've thrown out food based on the date on packaging. So interesting that most things aren't even required to have a date on them! I smell a conspiracy?

This article lays out why those dates mean squat. Next time do what we should all do - smell it instead! Wish I would have read this before I threw away some dressings the other day!

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH, 2010

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18TH, 2010

Saw on NBC5 Chicago yesterday a story about some parents getting tickets for being on their cellphones in the school parking lot - while their cars were in PARK. Really? This is what we've come to? How ridiculous right? Maybe write that OUT of the bill banning texting and cellphone use in school zones?

Most parents aren't aware they can get a ticket and schools are going to lengths to make sure they know. Read up more now. Click here.

HOARDER!!
Have you seen the A+E show? It's pretty amazing. Well, an ice writeup in the NW Herald gives us some background on the sickness. Pretty much we all know somebody who keeps a lot of stuff laying around and it seems like there is a fine line between collecting stuff and hoarding!

See if you or someone you know needs help. Some of it seems a bit much, but a great read! Click here to check out hte article now.

Valetine's Day Marriage Proposal video - real or fake?! Fake right? Click to watch

Are you suing for a baby mix up? Wait, before you answer that question check out the situation. A woman is awakened to feed her baby. She starts to feed it and then a hospital worker comes in and says that is not your baby. Even with all the technology we have this really did happen according to a lawsuit just filed in Cook County. We all thought that the baby screwups only happened in the movie - but to what degree? Is this something you would sue for? Just wondering...

Read the full article on wrong baby here.

Is your kid playing baseball or softball? Here's something else I happened upon over the weekend! We just got something in the mail for my 4 year old to play baseball. He plays with me and probably would enjoy it but I cannot lie that my wife and I looked at the price and scoffed. It was expensive!! However, the theory, according to some in this article is that kids are playing too many video games or on the computer to want to play outdoor sports.

What do you think? Too expensive these days or too many video games?! joe@star105.com

It was me and my oldest son for most of the day Sunday and we took advantage of some of the time to go sledding. Or, "sledding"...as you can say it was not the steepest hill around. I'm on the lookout for somewhere better to go in the Woodstock area.

Drop me a line if you know of some good spots. I know there is that HUGE hill down on Route 176 toward Lakemoore? And then I dug a tunnel in the ice which took about an hour to do. He was afraid to go in there cause snow fell on his face and I had to drag him out like a trapped miner! I was laughing cause he lay there totally still just screaming! I know, not very funny, but for me at the time it was.

Bring your own sled up kid!

The tunnel...or "mine"...

How about the earthquake this morning? Phones were nuts with your experiences. I've put together a montage for you to check out if you're so inclined! This is from calls this morning. The girl in the store was interesting cause she was at the 7-11 in Sycamore where it originated and didn't even realize until I told her what happened!

Listen to the Earthquake Experience audio click here

Listen to the 7--11 call in it's entirety here.

Oh, and if you want to know the ONE QUESTION you can ask your guy not matter how long you've been together it is "What color are my eyes? Renee called and we conferenced Jessie, her boyfriend of not even a year.

The picture that my wife said..."HOT DAMN" too. Agree? Let me know! LOL! joe@star105.com

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH, 2010

Lots of fun the past few days to share in podcast form.

One of my favorites was the talk about hot men in uniform. Background is Lisa Allen and Tina Bree talking about some hot cops from Crystal Lake showing up at the station since someone ALLEGEDLY called 9-1-1. YOU called in with your hot guys in uniform and it was saucy! Click the link to listen or right click and 'save as". It's good fun listen now!

Vicky is digging the hot construction worker look on her hubby

Stephanie is loving paramedics and ALL they can do

Then there was the gaming conversation. The Impossible question was "1 in 5 women have dumped their guys for this?" Answer: Playing video games. Opinions on both sides with some being gamers and other against it for reasons they'll talk about. Click to listen and stream or right click and 'save as'.

She's a gamer and proud of it!

Got an email from listener Jim yesterday. He was annoyed that his wife has never taken time to learn anything about football. You can read the email in a second. But I took it as an opportunity to QUIZ the ladies on football and get you ready for the weekend. Now, my wife got 7 of 10 of these questions right. She pays attention and SEEMS to enjoy games when they are on. I am not the one saying women know nothing about football. In fact, I bet you will do well on this quiz. Listener Jim wasn't too receptive to me asking his wife the questions to see if she really didn't know anything about the game. So...

Take the FOOTBALL QUIZ by clicking here and read Jim's email too!

Holiday roooooooooo-oh-oh-ad!! Here's a fun story about a local guy. From Wheaton, Gary Schneider decided to recreate the Family Truckster from National Lampoon's Vacation. The ugly station wagon that too Clark Griswold forever to gas up! Remember they took it to Wally World?

Well, Gary remade it and now it will be featured in a TV commercial during the 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Read more about the new Family Truckster and see pics!

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH

One of the fun things about the Super Bowl outside of the commercials, of course, are the proposition bets. If you're not familiar these are bets that you can REALLY make including: How long will it take Carrie Underwood to sing the national anthem? The over under is 1 minute, 42 seconds. Will it take less than or more than that? Make the bet! Another fun one this year is what color will Kim Kardashian be wearing to the game? She is New Orlean Saints Running Back Reggie Bush's girlfriend and a pop culture mainstay the past five years. Odds are on black.

Read more fun proposition bets for the Super Bowl here.

One of the most fun websites I've seen in a bit. The show "Jersey Shore" is annoying and paints Italian Americans as "Guido" and Guidettes" but that won't stop us from watching! I've only seen a few episodes and you cannot stop watching. It's hard to explain! Either way there is a site you should check out if you want to be like them. Scary!

FRIDAY, JANUARY 29TH, 2010 (Bridal Show Audio Scroll Down)

I knew the open of the Grammy's would be special. Lady Gaga performs "Poker Face" and then just rises to another level singing a duet with Elton John! It was a great effort by GaGa who held her own with one of THEE best in the business!  Taylor Swift had the most REAL speeches of the night. So cute and very gracious. Beyonce covering Alanis Morrisette's "You Oughta Know" was a great moment too. She sounded and looked fantastic. How about the crotch grab at the beginning of "If I were a Boy"?

Pink's performance was BEAUTIFUL I don't care who you are it was so good! Her voice was strong and here she is spinning around on a sheet above the grammys with no harness to speak of. It was weird when the camera DID NOT pan down on her as she was lowered back to the stage and came up soaking wet. Maybe the censors got nervous. Not as nervous as they were during the Eminem/Drake/Lil Wayne performance were it was more silence then actual music! If you enjoyed the Michael Jackson tribute you're not alone. The novelty of 3-D kind of ruined it for me. My eyes are still trying to recover since I didn't get my glasses for the big show!

The bridal show kicked off on a nice Sunday for big crowds and Jeff and I were happy to be part of it. It was nice to say "hi" to so many of you whom have heard us talk about the event. The pic of Jeff and I...that is my "tough guy" look. Ha ha!

Some of the brides were kind enough to let me quiz them on their big day. Listen now by clicking one of the links below and the audio will being to play.
